Why Dave’s Custom Services? Our solid hardwood butcher block tops are hand made from ‘Select & Better’ grade hardwood lumber harvested locally from the Upper Mississippi River Valley. We use solid un-cut strips (no finger jointing little pieces) and assemble each block with a waterproof food safe adhesive. You can order a butcher block any way you like. Finihsed, un-finished, with edge round overs or profiles, square edge one side, etc. We have many different species of hardwoods available, including Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Oak, Hickory, & Ash. We build edge grain (long strips) style blocks. From small cutting board sizes to large table top sizes. We can custom build any size up to 48 x 120″ and 3″ thick.
Our custom butcher blocks make great kitchen island tops, workbench tops, counter tops, and table tops. We are amazed at the uses for butcher block! We are constantly being asked if we can build a butcher block for something other than a top. Round, square, rectangle…From industrial uses to the commercial kitchen and everything in between.
Three great way to finish your new butcher block:
- Mineral Oil Finish– An FDA approved food grade oil that helps seal the wood. This is the ideal finish to use on any board or block that will be used to cut and prep food on. This finish requires regular applications of the oil to keep the wood sealed. Complete care instructions are included with your order.
- Conversion Varnish – from ML. Cambell. This finish offers maximum durability with the rich warmness of a traditional oil based urethane varnish. Choose this finish for excellent protection for table tops and counters. Not recommended for food prep but is food safe for contact. This finish is spray applied, usually 3-4 coats, and offers excellent protection. Available in a smooth satin sheen.
- Un-Finished- Order your butcher block un-finished and do it yourself. Your new butcher block will come smoothly sanded and ready for the finish of your choice.
